BUNNY BASICS
At Boujie & Co. Rabbitry, our bunnies are raised with a strong foundation of proper care and intentional handling.
A healthy bunny diet consists of unlimited Timothy or orchard hay or hay cubes, with pellets making up roughly 10% of the diet, see our regimen below.
We recommend indoor housing only, using x-pens or spacious enclosures that allow room to fully stretch, move freely, and enjoy daily playtime. If you get a normal cage, just provide daily exercise.
Routine grooming is essential—bunnies should be brushed twice weekly, have nail trims monthly, and their bottoms checked every few days to ensure cleanliness and comfort.
Spay and neuter are strongly recommended, along with regular veterinary care through an experienced exotic vet. Most importantly, bunnies thrive on attention, routine, and gentle interaction, making them affectionate, social companions when their needs are met.

OUR PELLET FEED
Pellets are offered twice daily, starting at 1 tablespoon per feeding, and thoughtfully adjusted to each rabbit’s individual needs and condition.
We previously fed Kalmbach Professional, and have since transitioned to a custom blend featuring Medalist Mini Sprout pellets, oats, BOSS (black oil sunflower seeds), Calf Manna, and flax seed. This blend was chosen to better support a more natural, well-rounded diet that promotes healthy digestion, optimal body condition, and glossy coats.
Pellets are lightly mixed with ground flaxseed and sunflower seeds, and all rabbits have unlimited access to Timothy and/or Alfalfa hay cubes at all times.
Additionally, we offer soaked beet pulp (1 tablespoon per serving) 1x every other day as an excellent, gentle fiber source to further support gut health.
SPAY & NEUTER
-
Prevents serious health issues
Spaying greatly reduces the risk of uterine cancer in does, which is extremely common in unaltered females. Neutering bucks also lowers the risk of reproductive-related health problems later in life.
-
Improves temperament and behavior
Altered rabbits are typically calmer, less territorial, and less aggressive. Hormonal behaviors such as spraying, mounting, lunging, and biting are significantly reduced.
-
Supports successful bonding
Spayed and neutered rabbits are much easier to bond with other rabbits and integrate into a household. Hormone-driven conflicts are far less likely, leading to happier, more stable companions.
-
Encourages better litter habits
Neutered and spayed rabbits are more consistent with litter box use, as spraying and marking behaviors are greatly minimized.
